Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free to get a quote?

Yes. Submitting a job request costs nothing and doesn't obligate you to book anything. If a match is found, that contractor reaches out directly to discuss the job and their price for it.

Is Larken Connect itself an electrician or plumbing company?

No. Larken Connect is a matching service — we connect you with one licensed local contractor from a small, vetted group. We're not the ones doing the electrical or plumbing work, and we don't set or collect payment for the job itself; that's agreed directly between you and the contractor.

How is this different from sites where five contractors call me?

Your request goes to one contractor at a time, from a small group capped at 5–8 pros per borough, rather than being sold to every company in the area at once. That's the whole point — one call back, not a pile of cold calls.

How fast will someone contact me?

It depends on how quickly a contractor claims your request, but most matched jobs get a call back within minutes during business hours. Marking your job as an emergency sends it to every contractor in your group at once, rather than one at a time, so it gets picked up faster.

Are the contractors licensed and insured?

Every contractor is checked before joining a group. If you have any doubt about a specific job, it's always fine to ask the contractor directly for their license number when they call.

What boroughs do you cover?

All five NYC boroughs — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island — for both electrical and plumbing work.

What if no contractor is available in my borough yet?

Some borough groups are still small or just getting started. If nobody claims your request right away, it stays open and gets offered out as contractors join — submitting it now means you're first in line once a match is available.

Do I need a licensed electrician for panel or wiring work in NYC?

Electrical work in NYC generally needs to be done by a licensed electrician, and requirements can depend on the specific job — every electrician in our network is licensed, so you don't have to sort that out yourself.
